Welcome To Sonora's Gardens!
Sonora’s Gardens is, as our customers say, “One of the Best Kept Secrets in the Finger Lakes Area”. If you’re not familiar with the Finger Lakes area, I’ll tell you a little bit about it. There are five major lakes in this area, resulting in the aerial view of a handprint, with five fingers, of course! American Indian legend has it that the imprint of the Great Spirit formed the lakes.
You will find Sonora's Gardens just south of Watkins Glen, at the base of the largest of the Finger Lakes, Seneca Lake. This lake is 35 miles long, two-three miles wide in parts and over 600 feet deep. We go boating on this lake in our spare time, and have many friends that travel from near and far to join us. Nearby are the other Finger Lakes, Keuka Lake, Cayuga Lake, Owasco Lake, and Skaneateles Lake.
Sonora’s Gardens is located in the Southern Tier—just over the Pennsylvania border, central to Rochester, Syracuse, Binghamton, and Ithaca. You can click here for directions. If you’re looking for that special vacation destination, this is it! A bit of the country with all the amenities of a bigger city—great restaurants, wineries, shopping, Corning Glass Museum, Watkins Glen International Race Track, and much more!
Sonora’s Gardens, named in memory of my mother Nora, is an open pavilion garden center, offering the best in plants and hanging baskets, as well as Amish-built lawn furniture, swing sets, gazebos, and storage sheds. We invite you to visit our garden center any time we’re open—we do close after Halloween (until mid-April) for a short, much needed rest! Stop by for our Fall Gathering (see our Events page) before we close for the season. We start gearing up again in March, and we’d love to see you once the weather breaks!
Have a great fall, and we hope to see you in the Spring!
