Site Preparation Guidelines 2008
The leveling of a structure to the site prior to delivery is the customer’s responsibility. We cannot be held liable for any adverse effects caused to the shed by an unprepared site (adverse effects would be the settling of the shed over time, resulting in doors that do not line up or open and/or close properly).
Our recommendation (and that of our builders) is a 3-4” base of crushed limestone gravel (crusher run), leveled and tamped. The stone pad should be approximately 6”-1’ larger on all sides than your building. This allows for good drainage underneath the structure and compresses together well; the crusher run packs but still allows water to drain. (As we have been in the trucking and excavating business for over 25 years, we have the expertise to do this for you, if you wish. Ask our staff for a price quotation)
Using blocks for the base of your structure is not recommended. Blocks need to be placed at the exact spacing to allow our 4x4 skids to sit on top, and blocks tend to settle in corners, making leveling very difficult. If framing or blocks are used, we are not responsible for any cause and effect.
All of our structures are unloaded from the rear of the trailer, so please advise us where the doors should be placed on the trailer (typically, with barns, it is “door to the front or rear”; typically, with peak style buildings, it is “driver’s side or passenger’s side”.
When placing your structure order, please keep in mind that we must back our trailer and truck over your site. We then tilt our trailer and pull away from the structure, dropping the structure in the exact location. We will not deliver the structure if we feel that we may damage your lawn or your neighbors, or more unpleasant, get our vehicles stuck. The structures are very heavy, and when placed on the trailer, the load can sink very easily!
Please view your site for any limbs or power lines that may be in the way. Many customers forget to look up! We also need a certain turning radius, so keep in mind existing shrubbery, gardens, sidewalks, etc., that may prevent the unloading of the structure. Should we need to move your shed into a tight spot with PVC pipe and plenty of muscle, there will be an extra charge tacked on to the delivery of $35.00 for every half hour. If you have any concerns about the delivery, please ask our staff to arrange for one of our drivers to view the site prior to delivery.
We want this to be a pleasant experience for us both so your consideration in this area is appreciated.
Thank you,
